KASAGI Sustainability Declaration

KASAGI contributes to the realization of a world where all people, sheep, and living beings can live healthily in a sound environment through all its activities. Through corporate activities, we strive to respect human rights, protect animals, and preserve the environment, and endeavor to build a society where sheep and others can mutually respect and coexist.

Environmental Protection Standards

KASAGI strives to protect the environment in the activities of sheep breeding and the manufacturing and sale of textile products centered on woolen fabrics based on the following policies:

1. Continuously improve the environmental management system, recognizing the environmental risks associated with all business activities, and strive to protect the environment and prevent pollution.

2. Comply with legal requirements related to the environment and voluntary initiatives by customers and other requirements. In doing so, establish and manage voluntary standards.

3. Address the following items as key environmental management themes in our activities, products, and services:

① Protect the soil, prevent river pollution, and maintain biodiversity in sheep pastures.

② Develop products and packaging with low environmental impact.

③ Strive to reduce waste and promote effective use of resources.

④ Strive for energy and resource conservation.

4. Set environmental goals to achieve these policies and promote environmental management throughout the company.

5. Disseminate these policies to all stakeholders and raise awareness of environmental protection.

This environmental policy will be publicly available on our website.

Code of Conduct

1. Prohibition of Discrimination

Respect human rights and equality regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, age, gender, sexual orientation, social status, political beliefs, religion, or status. Prohibit discrimination based on marriage, pregnancy, or chronic illness in employment.

2. Prohibition of Forced Labor

No employee shall be forced to work through violence or threats. Eliminate any abuse, harassment, and corporal punishment. Also, prohibit loans to employees that may pose a risk of forced labor.

3. Prohibition of Child Labor

Do not employ children under the age of 15 or those of compulsory education age. Protect young workers under 18 based on legal requirements.

4. Protection of Foreign Workers

If employing foreigners whose native language is not Japanese, provide language education and workplace training to facilitate quick workplace adjustment. Respect human rights of foreign workers and never keep passports or residence cards.

5. Salary and Welfare

Set salaries above the legally mandated minimum wage. Ensure necessary salaries for minimum living and all legally mandated welfare benefits. Do not offset any costs against salary without the employee’s consent.

6. Working Hours

Set a maximum of 40 hours per week for prescribed working hours, and a maximum of 45 hours including overtime, providing more than two days off in a consecutive seven-day period. Pay overtime allowance as stipulated.

7. Freedom of Movement

Do not restrict employees’ movement within the company during working hours. Employees are free to use break time and are guaranteed the freedom to go outside.

8. Prohibition of Repeated Short-Term Employment

Avoid repeated contracts for short-term employees and promote stable employment for staff.

9. Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining Rights

Respect freedom of association, the right to participate in unions or other professional or industry associations, and the legally mandated right to collective bargaining. Establish an elected employee representative at headquarters.

10. Health and Safety

Provide a safe and sanitary workplace environment. Promote worker safety and environmental protection and preservation in the workplace.

11. Protection of Employees

Respond sincerely and protect employees who file complaints regarding employment relationships, unfair discrimination, freedom of association, collective bargaining, working hours, and remuneration.

12. Fair Disciplinary Practices

Treat employees with respect. No employee shall be subjected to physical, psychological, or harassment. Prohibit any fines as punishment. Disciplinary actions must be fair and, when necessary, require the presence and signature of a third party (employee representative).

13. Protection of Sheep

Ensure animal welfare in sheep breeding. Sheep must be respected as living beings and provided with an environment where they can live healthily and happily. Actively adopt modern standard practices in sheep breeding and undergo third-party audits if necessary.
